PTL SCRIP Program
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a term that means "substitute" money. SCRIP is a gift certificate. The very same certificate
that is issued and guaranteed by the grocery, restaurant, gas station or retail stores that you may shop
at everyday. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday expense items like food, gas, clothing and other
essentials, and with every purchase earn revenue for Concordia.
How does SCRIP work?
SCRIP works because it is simple. Purchase your SCRIPs for the retail stores you shop at.
Participating merchants sell them to Concordia at a discount. We sell them to you at face value (you
pay $25 for a $25 certificate). It costs you 'not a penny more'. The orders are taken weekly and/or
sold at the SCRIP Center (on hand SCRIP sales of some retailers). Use the certificates at the participating
stores/restaurants instead of cash, checks.
What are the benefits of SCRIP?
The PTL has been able to eliminate several past fundraising efforts in the past years that have been considered
less profitable and time consuming. Fundraising is a necessary part of Concordia. This program has been successful
enough to date to also allow the PTL to offer a Tuition Reduction Program.
What is the Tuition Reduction Program?
The tuition reduction program is a means of assisting Concordia School families who participate in the SCRIP Program.
SCRIP credits will be offered to participating families. PTL has chosen
to assist participating Concordia School families with a return of 50% of the profit earned from
their purchases. A family's credit will be totaled for a calendar year
(January 1 - December 31 and rebated to them as a credit on their final
tuition payment of the year.
Let's take a look at an example of a family of four buying groceries for one year:
- Purchase $100 grocery scrip each week for total sales of $5200 per year.
- All groceries currently offer a 5% earning value.
- Profit earned by Concordia is $5200 x 5% = $260 profit per year.
- As an added bonus to the program, each family earns 50% of the profit earned. In
this example, the family would earn $130 in credit. That $130 in credit can be applied
to one of the following options:
|
- Concordia Lutheran School account
- To another Concordia tuition paying family
- Concordia Lutheran High School account
- Concordia Church Operating Fund
- Concordia Tuition Assistance Fund
- Concordia PTL
|
The higher the earnings % of scrip purchased, the higher the credit a family receives.
Families not using THRIVENT simply giving program for tuition payments will have the
options to apply their credit towards their next years registration fee, lunch, bus or
band fees by a given date (date information will be on the credit notification form).
How will I receive my credit?
Families earning a minimum Tuition Credit amount of $25 will be sent a notification form
sometime in February informing them of their credit total. This form will instruct them
on their credit use options and how to apply them.
Families have 1 of 6 options to apply their Tuition Credit:
|
- Concordia Lutheran School account
- To another Concordia tuition paying family
- Concordia Lutheran High School account
- Concordia Church Operating Fund
- Concordia Tuition Assistance Fund
- Concordia PTL
