The typical enrollment process differs for grade school children, children entering Kindergarten and children entering our preschool program.
Grades 1 to 8: To enroll a child in grade school, an interview is scheduled with the school principal. Student records, including recent grade cards and standardized test scores should be brought along. If, after the interview, you wish to enroll your child, you will need to complete the application for enrollment. Upon receiving the application, the principal will contact either the child’s previous teacher or principal. If no problems or concerns are evident, Concordia Lutheran School will accept your child for enrollment and you can complete the remaining paperwork and pay the appropriate fees. Concordia Lutheran School reserves the right to do some basic testing to determine the appropriate classroom and grade level placements for a new student.
Kindergarten: To enroll a Kindergarten child, the process is the same as above with the following additional steps. All Kindergarten students new to our school are given a Kindergarten readiness test and the parents are asked to obtain a readiness evaluation from the child’s preschool teacher.
Preschool: To enroll a preschool student who fits the basic age requirements, fill out the application and pay the registration fee.
Simply contact our school office by phone or by e-mail and request our information packet. It will be mailed to you or you can pick it up at the office.
We are also glad to answer any questions on the phone, via e-mail school@clsfw.org or in person.
Concordia Lutheran School has made a commitment to recruiting the highest quality teachers to minister to our students. Of course this means trained, state-certified teachers. But more importantly, it means teachers committed to Christian education, dedicated to serving children and families and actively living their Christian faith.
Most of our teachers have been trained specifically to teach in a Lutheran Christian school. We call this process “synodical training.”
Concordia Lutheran School is supported in large part through the giving of members of Concordia Lutheran Church. We charge tuition in an attempt to recoup some of the costs of educating children. The amount of tuition varies based on the class the child attends and the family’s relationship to Concordia Lutheran Church. All families are charged a registration fee that covers the cost of books and other supplies.
Preschool – All families pay the full tuition regardless of their membership status.
Grades K-8
Member Families - Families who are members of Concordia Lutheran Church receive a substantial tuition discount. The same discount applies to the families of students at Concordia Theological Seminary. Member families are expected to be active in their worship attendance, attending at least 13 times in each half of the calendar year and participate in the life of the church.
Non-member Families - Families who are not members pay tuition that approximates the cost of educating a child. If you are unclear about your membership status or wish to receive information on membership please contact Pastor Kevin Wendt in our church office (422-2429 ext.109) or at pastorkevin@concordiachurch.org .
Partner Churches – Several local Lutheran parishes are in a partnership arrangement with Concordia Lutheran School. Members of partner churches receive a substantial tuition reduction from regular non-member rates. Current partner churches are: Promise Lutheran Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, New Life Lutheran Church, Praise Lutheran Church and St. James Lutheran Church – New Haven.
Financial aid in the form of scholarships for members and grants for non-members is available to families registering by June. Contact the school office by phone (426-9922 ext. 200) or via e-mail at rwidenhofer@concordiachurch.org to receive financial aid information.
We try to send out re-enrollment information to families currently enrolled by the end of January. New applications are accepted beginning in January through the first day of school in August. However, families with children previously enrolled and children of members of our congregation have enrollment priority until the first of March.
Good question. Each family needs to determine what they value. At Concordia we value Christian education. At Concordia we believe we can provide a high quality education for your child. Our students generally score substantially above average on national achievement tests. We can also provide some things not available in public education. We pray together. We have chapel services. We have faculty and staff members that are committed to Christ and who seek to work together in harmony and with a common purpose. We endeavor to prepare children for a life of service to God and to their fellow man and not just to live for self. Most of all, on a daily basis, we strive to teach each child that he or she is known and loved by God, that he or she is precious to Him, and that in Jesus Christ he or she has a Savior who has forgiven all sins and provides eternal life.
We have Christian education available for children age two through age five in our early childhood preschool program. We offer both full and half day Kindergarten programs and a full grade school program for grades 1 to 8. Being a larger school, we typically have two classrooms at each grade level.
Yes! We are a full service school with specialist teachers and a variety of programs. Each K-8 student receives art, physical education and music instruction twice per week. In addition a strings program is available starting in second grade and a band program begins in 4th grade.
For girls in grades 5 through 8 we offer soccer, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track. For boys in grades 5 through 8 we offer soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, and track.
We believe that sports are an avenue for teaching important Christian life lessons about effort, responsibility, teamwork and honor.
