First of all, please know that you dont have to become a member here in order to benefit from and participate in Concordias ministries. You are most welcome to worship and take part in our life and work together without becoming an "official" member.
But if you wish to be a member, thats wonderful, and you need to know that a high degree of commitment is necessary. Members are expected to worship, grow, care & share the love of God in His Son Jesus Christ in very specific ways. (See Expectations of Members) Members make a large commitment to the Lords ministry in this place.
Becoming a member of Concordia requires prayerful consideration and any staff member is willing to speak with you about this; just ask or give any of us a call.
Congregations exist to help Christians grow and serve. And their job is to tell others about our Lord Jesus so that they too might experience the life he has to offer a rich and abundant life now and forever.
The following are the basic steps toward meaningful, committed membership in the work and ministry of our Lord at and through Concordia Lutheran Church and School:
Worship helps to cultivate a believers relationship with the Lord. Worshiping together is an important core activity of Gods people, the Church. We put a high priority on worship, work hard to make it meaningful and engaging, and expect our members to worship regularly and often together, as well as individually. God renews us in worship and directs us; it is our spiritual breath.
Worship Schedule
Concordia congregation is much more than a church building and an organization; were people. "Concordia" means "hearts together," and that is a great description of the people who call Concordia home. While you wont be able to meet and get to know everyone, it is very important to cultivate friendships here at church. We want to get to know you and the friendships we make here will enrich our lives. Being together for worship, Bible study and various activities will help keep all strong in the Lord.
Discovery
A New Year reflects a new process for members and non-members alike. An opportunity for non-members to become members and for members to grow as members...
What’s the reason for my faith? What are my role and relationship because of my faith?
To become effectively involved in the life and mission of this church it is critical to become increasingly acquainted with God’s Word and Concordia’s mission, have an opportunity to (re)discover your unique, God-given talents, and be led in the reward of participating in meaningful ways.
This twelve-week process is designed to lead in discovery of answers to these questions in a relevant and relational way:
Membership at Concordia requires this. Leadership within Concordia desires this.
The NEXT 'Discovery' opportunity is 12 Wednesdays, beginning May 10, 2006 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. New member reception and luncheon will be on Sunday, August 6.
The fall 'Discovery' opportunity begins Thursdays, August 31 and last through November 16, 2006.
Please call the Church office at 422-2429 with your intention.
People coming from other Lutheran congregations are issued a letter of transfer to us from their current congregation. We ask those who wish to join to request a letter of transfer during the New Member Orientation process.
These are the basic steps toward becoming a member of Concordia. We believe that doing these things will help a person grow in his/her faith relationship with the Lord and His people. These things will also enable a person to become a dedicated and effective member of the body of Christ in this place.
BECAUSE GOD LOVES ME AND FORGIVES ME, I WILL...
WORSHIP...
GROW...
CARE...
SHARE...
So Help Me God!
